»If you are guided by the spirit of exploration, everything is possible«

On 16th of January, Rebeka Kropivšek Leskovar, who has a master degree in information and communication technologies and works as a development engineer in the Interblock group, became Female engineer of 2024. She received this flattering title from last year's female engineer of the year, Ljupka Vrteva, in the company of nine fellow professional colleagues.

Inženirka leta 2024_Ljupka Vrteva in Rebeka Kropivšek Leskovar (foto arhiv Inženirka leta)Rebeka Kropivšek Leskovar studied mechatronics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana and finished her master degree at the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School and now, in the Interblock group, she develops human-centered applications of machine vision technologies, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and ethical development of technologies.

At the selection of the Female engineer of the Year, which is organized by the magazine IRT3000 and the company Mediade and its partners, Kropivšek Leskovar pointed out, that any new technology can have an extraordinary impact on society, and this impact can be both good and bad. At the same time, she told the younger generations: "If you are guided by the spirit of exploration, anything is possible."

This year, the competition took place for the seventh time in a row, and in addition to the winner, the ten nominees included Brina Škoda, Emina Mešić, Jasna Krmelj, Jerneja Šušel, Karmen Košutar, Katja Škof Žavcer, Manca Kok Bevc, Staša Velcl and Urša Skerbiš Štok.

Rebeka Kropivšek Leskovar will also be a guest of this year's Industrial Forum and will address the participants in Portorož on the first day of the forum, 9th of June 2025.
